There is not another like it in the world. That individuals differ among themselves is a readily observable fact, even in a single ability no two persons are ever identical. We recognize the voice of a friend because there is not another exactly like it, we preserve photographs of members of the family because they are uniqueg the finger prints of a criminal are used to identify him because those prints could never be exactly duplicated. I trust that you carry with you always, in memory, a picture of our beautiful buildings and grounds, ever remembering that they are as different from other schools as ou i er rom an o erin ivi ua. y d ff f y th d d I I-I. DRAMATICS Drama activities as directed by George Wilsoii in Hayward Union High School were represented this year by three major productions and a series of onefact plays. The season opened with two performances of Captain Applejaclq starring Kent La Rue, Donna Reinking, Nlarilyn Strobridge, Roberta Brookshire, and Wzlrren Banta on November 12 and 13. On December 16 the Music and Drama Departments presented Heracles, a twelfthfcentury miracle play starring Minnie Delger, Pat Hopper, Brent Morris, Georgia Risley, and others. The year of drama work was culminated in a magnincent production of Shakespeares Romeo and juliet on June 2 and 3. The production gave us Pat Hopper as Romeo and Ruth Froehlick as Juliet. Some mention should be made of the weekly performances of the Hayloft Playhouse. Each week of the spring term the students of the advanced drama class displayed their talents in onefact plays. Such old favorites as Rostand's Romances and Benetente's Sunny Morning were particularly popular. 1' I. It gave me schooling, independence of action, opportunity for service and honor. In no other country could a boy from ar country village, without inheritance or influential friends, look forward with unbounded hope. My whole life has taught me what America means. I aim indebted to my country beyond any human power to repay. Originally located at A and Soto, the school moved to its present site in 1913 at which time the administration huilding was erected. In 1915 the gymnasium and shop was added, in 1921 and in 1925, additions to the administration huildingg in 1925, additions to the shop to accomodate the girls' physical education, in 1926, the auditorium building. In 1930 the board purchased the Knox tract and in the same year five acres from the Russell estate, on which they huilt the hotany unit, hringing the total acreage to twenty and six tenths. In 1936 the shop and mechanical drawing classes moved to their new building. I. B. Parsons, hoard member since 1892, N. P. Y-Nielsen from 1909 to January, 1938, E. O. Vxfehb from 1898 to 1930, and their twentyfthree associates during the past twentyfeight years fortunately had the foresight to build for the present situation. All the classrooms now are filled to capacity, and already the hoard is finding it necessary to plan for further extension of the plant. Should the community and school continue to grow as it has during the past decade, the trustees will need to continue to have vision and to make it a reality. 73 ' CONGRATULATIONS, STUDENTS!
