Football during the 1937 season was not so successful since Coach B. K. Smith had only four regulars to rely on, but some of the games were comparatively close. The A. C. A. L. games started Cctober 16 included no games won, though all were harder fought than scores indicate. With Piedmont, the heaviest team of the league, Hayf ward played one of its best games. About sixty boys turned out at the start of the season for the reserve football team, un' der the leadership of Coach Laws. The players, inexperienced at the start of the season, won two gamesg several of the boys show promise of being future stars.
