JUHIUR GlHSS The jolly juniors-for truly the are a jolly good class-have passed three more success' ful years, having taken a most active part in student body affairs. They have participated in rallies, dances, and sports. There are athletes in this class who are destined to become future stars. Also a large percentage of the names on the honor roll and C S F has been drawn from this class of 1938. For the midfyear graduation this class decorated the stage, and will continue the custom for the june graduates. The flowers which the girls carried for graduation were presented by the juniors as a farewell remembrance to this class. Some of their leaders are: the president of the A. G. S., the former and present C S F presidents, vicefpresident of the A. B. S., former sports manager, and the president of the Block Hg so you see they really have been active this year. At the annual Kountry Karnival the juniors presented the traditional vaudeville which originated with the junior class of 1930. These students have been guided by Edward Nicholsen, as junior class president, Bob Graham, vicefpresident, Paul Oakes, secretary, and Jeanne Sorensen and Dorothy Craig as social representatives. This class of 1938 has accomplished much for the promotion of the seriously needed school spirit, and now they realize that it will be only one year before their members will be just another class added to the memory of our school. 3 , . ,: . , ...al 1--4 SUPHUIHURE ULHSS These busy sophomores, about three hundred twenty of them, have been well rep' resented in the activities of our school this year. They have displayed unusual ability and enthusiasm. The chess team, which has won such a high standing through its numerous victories and now holds the northern California championship, has four members of the sophomore class on its list. , These students are outstanding in athletics as well. They are well represented on the new swimming team. Jack Craine, foremost swimmer in Hayward high, is a sopho' more. They won the first swimming meet in our history. They have demonstrated their ability to participate in studentfbody activities whole' heartedly, for they received a free dance for buying the highest number of student body cards. The P. T. A. also presented them with a dance for having the best percentage of parents present. Carefree students romped at the Kandy Kapersn presented by this ambitious class. This was the first dance held in the big gym, and red and white was the theme. The ofhcers for this year have been efficient in their work. Clinton Phillips is the presif dent, Beverly Bauslaugh, secretary, and lla. Couture the social representative. Certainly with the fine start these students have made, they should be responsible seniors in two more years, and indeed a credit to Hayward high.
