FOREWORD Members of the 1985 publications class, along with Mr. Cole, have completed this book to the best of our abilities. There's a certain feeling that every high school student gets. The seniors can’t wait for that special day when they will be known as graduates of Hayti High, juniors can't wait to become seniors so they can be known as leaders, sophomores say, I'm almost there,” and freshmen look at the four hardest years of their lives saying, Someday I'll make it.” We have tried to capture all the memories of this year: athletic achievements, the homecomings, and the prom. These events have affected us all in some way and they are memories we will share forever. 2 COMTGHTS Dedication............... 6 Favorites................ 7 Seniors..................15 Juniors..................27 Sophomores...............31 Freshmen.................37 Organizations.................43 Athletics.....................61 Administration ...............81 Faculty.......................83 Activities....................87 Advertisers...................95 3 Hayti High, our alma mater, Guide us by thy perfect light. In the way that we must travel Help us choose from wrong the right. We, your loyal sons and daughters, Of dear Hayti High we sing; And the echoes of our singing Have and will forever ring. 4 5 D€DICMiON DIANNE MYRACLE The yearbook staff is pleased to honor a faculty member who has been on the high school teaching stafl since the 1976-1977 school year. We are pleased to dedicate the 1985 Council to Miss Dianne Myracle, a member of the business department faculty. Miss Myracle not only does a superb job of classroom instruction but devotes hours of work in sponsoring the activities of the Junior Class such as concession stand supervision and direction of Junior-Senior Prom decorations. A student says this: “Miss Myracle not only is a great teacher but she is also your friend. I believe a teacher that is also a friend is the best there is. She is easy to talk to about your troubles and she'll do her best to help you.” 6 fOOTBMl ROYALTY Amber Bowen was crowned Foot- ball Homecoming Queen on October 19, prior to the football game be- tween Hayti and Portageville. Hayti had started a winning streak that sent New Madrid home losing by 28-6 on September 14. With a 14-zip win, Hayti walked over East Prairie, but Kennett broke the winning streak by defeating the In- dians 14-12. Even though we had lost against Kennett, we came away with a win from Scott City (20-12). Maldon went home victorious on October 12, with a tight 7-6 win. Portageville came here in high hopes but the Indians broke their bubble by defeating them 19-0 on October 19. On our once-again winning streak, Hayti went to Chaffee and upset them 9-0. On a chilly November 2, the tribe came home with a 27-0 win over Cairo. ALL-CONFERENCE INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITIONS ALL-DISTRICT ALL-STATE (First Team): James Battles Guard Guard Jay Richardson Hon.
