Published by Commercial Department HAYTI HIGH SCHOOL Hayti, Missouri orewor As each life unfolds toward its ultimate goal, no time is more joyfully remembered than the time we have spent in the training for that life Often, however, we fail to think of school as a training ground and think of it only as a place of great pleasures and minor disappointments and one big rush toward such goals as the Senior trip, the Junior-Senior Prom, and then. Commencement. Later in life though, these important goals lose their importance in the face of greater problems. We hope that when you come upon these diffi- culties, you can look through these pages and remember how beautiful, funny and hectic was your life in the Hayti High School. I Administration II Classes 111 Sports IV Organizations V Features VI Advertising 2 ejt edica tion Each year there are many events in school life which the entire student body looks forward to. Among these events, none are more eagerly anticipated than the numerous dramatic productions of Mrs. Jasamyn Garrett. For her work in raising the drama department of Hayti High School to a height comparable to the best schools in the state, and in inspiring her students toward a higher goal in life, we gratefully dedicate this 1954 Council to Mrs. Jasamyn Garrett. 3 Alma Hayti High, Our Alma Mater Guide us by thy perfect light; In the way that we must travel Help us choose from wrong the right. This game was Indicative of the better things to come for the Indians. The Indians proceeded to roll East Prairie 60-0, Malden 27-0, Chaffee 7-3, Dexter 33-6, Ills -pornfelt 58-6, Kennett 33-0 and go into the important Thanksgiving Day game against also undefeated Portageville, and This was the big game of the year for all southeast Missouri. The Bulldogs of Portageville won it 6-0 in one of the most exciting games to be seen. Although the Indians were well fortified with outstanding players, the success of the team was due mainly to the wonderful team spirit and an never dying desire to play, no doubt these 1953 Indians will long be remembered by the football fans as one of the best in the school’s history. 39 Front row; Davld spahr, Robert Hawkins, Gary carlson, jimmy philips, jimmy Richards.
