Teresa Noland, Cindy Gray, Sheila Hinders, Daine Cunningham, Dreena Sipe, Senetha Penner. Our ensemble program is designed to build leadership and musicianship in our young people. The ensembles perform at various civic and school programs at which time they present various types of music including sea- sonal and special program requests. During the spring of 1970 our ensembles will have the opportunity to parti- cipate in a music contest. While at this contest we will be in competition with thirteen other area schools. The junior High Band offers the student a lab- oratory in which to per- form on a woodwind, brass, V f , or percussion instrument. The excellence they at- tain is determined some- what by the amount of effort put forth by each student and by the group as a Whole. The band serves the school by per- forming in parades in the community and by per- forming at athletic events. The band is di- vided into three sections: saxophone, trombone and trumpet, and rhythm. The stage band plays for in- termission at some of the athletic events here at the school and one concert in the spring. The stage band rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings after school. STA GEBAND 5-i5ivf'e 7' '77 T The orchestra gives the students a chance to par- ticipate in what has been called the highest form of musical expression. ln this organization we combine the forceful and driving brass and Woodwinds with the heart of the or- chestra, the strings. The orchestra meets during the fourth hour five times a Week. Throughout the year it gives at least three or four concerts. Those students in the junior high who try out and do Well get to play in the Mid West Youth Symphony. Here they meet some of the prominent musicians of our day. 38

This girls choral group meets three times a week. Girls Glee provides an op- portunity for its members to become acquainted With a variety of choral pieces, to improve their own sing- ing, and to develop skill in harmonic part singing. The group performs seve- ral times within the school year with one of the high lights that of the annual Spring Concert. GIRLS GLEE MIXED CHOR US CLARINETCHOIR Mixed Chorus meets Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. The group is made up of boys and of girls selected from Girls Glee Club. This group uses much music arranged for Soprano, Alto, and Baritone parts fthis latter part possible because of the lowering of the boy's voices. J Members of the Mixed Chorus, like those of Girls Glee Club, hope to gain skill in singing, experience in choral par- ticipation, and opportun- ities for performance. BRASS CHOIR 40 'Wwe
