Editor. TABLE or coNTENTs FOREWORD The year of 1969 through 1970 has been an undescribable experience at Haysville junior High. In the two years you spend at Ir. High you grow and learn many things Sock-hops, games, classes and other functions help us to grow physically, mentally and form our personalities. We wish to express our thanks to everyone for making this another re- warding year. For the 8th graders, we wish you good luck! To the 7th graders, we hope your 8th grade year will go fast and be meaningful for you. Ian Trotg Editor ng? gin Greetings: l 1 Welcome to Haysville junior High School. We hope your two years stay here will be enjoyable and profitable. lt is the philosophy of the Board of Education in Haysville to offer as many exploratory activities for our junior High School programs as possible. We are proud of our Staff, and We are pleased with the attitude and desire of our student body. By the Kansas State Department of Education Accre- ditation, Haysville junior High School is a Class A School. This means that we offer above and beyond the necessary requirements for a comprehensive education at the junior High School level. We hope that you will appreciate the facilities, equipment, laboratory and activity programs that have been provided for you, and that you will take full ad- vantage of them. We are happy to have you among us. Sincerely, Bryce D. Stallard, Superintendent of Schools This publication for years to come will help you recall many memories of the 1969- 70 school year. The sixties have brought forth short skirts, long hair, the growing of the war in Vietnam, student unrest on campus, footsteps on the moon Texas as the number one football team, and the Hawks a second straight undefeated football season. These are only a few of the many happenings in which you have been involved The student body, past and present, can claim much of the credit for the fine record of school spirit, school activities and achievements. One day you will leaf through this book and recall various experiences in junior high. Many of them will be brought to life by the sight of an old friend's face. For the conservation of these many memories, I wish to thank and congratulate the staff and their sponsor for their combined efforts in the production of Hawk, W. F. Humphries, Principal BOARD OF EDUCA TION Virgil Combs, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, Jim Schmitt, Attorney, Dr. Virgil Palmer, .Carl Cooper, Glenn Bridwell, Richard Studer, President, Bryce Stallard, Superintendent, Juanita McDermed, Vice President, Robert Chitwood, jack Beard, Don Frazier, Treasurer. 4 Mrs. Dolores Schmidt SECRETARIE Without the efforts of the Haysville Ir. High secretaries our school would not function so smoothly. Their duties are quite varied. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a success- fi V - ful year. The purpose of the intramural program is to provide the girls with the opportunity to compete with others in the various sports. Through intramurals those girls with an interest and skill in sports compete against those with similiar skills. The program is offered 2 days a week and alternates with the boys' program. Hopefully intra- murals will someday be a step towards girls athletics. 47 HA WK Mlke Ybarra and Becky Stoval w 48 v ni Gary McCutcheon and Debbie Maxwell 3 1 I I 5 O 9 Perry Patten and Brenda Button ROYALTY '70 WV I Crowning of the 1970 King and Queen took place February 12 at the school gym, The royalty was announced by Tom Vaughn, The finalists for the honor were chosen by vote from the student body.
