ORCHESTR The orchestra gives the students a chance to participate in what has often been called the highest form of musical expression . In this organization we combine the driving brass and Woodwinds with the singing strings. The orchestra meets during the fourth hour five times a week. Throughout the year it gives at least three or four concerts. These concerts include playing in exchange assemblies with other schools, a full Sunday after- noon concert, and a mass orchestra concert with all orchestras of the district. Those students in the junior High who try out and do well get to play in the Mid West Youth Symphony. Here they meet some of the prominent musicians of our day. The junior High Band offers the student a laboratory in which to perform on a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. The excellence they attain is determined somewhat by the amount of effort put forth by each student and by the group as a whole. The band serves the school by performing in parades in the community and by performing at athletic events. In addition to the band, the students have an opportunity to participate in Ensembles such as the Clarinet Choir, Saxophone Choir, Woodwind Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, and Stage Band.
