This is your once-in-a -lifetime news and sports reporter, Gayle Puckett, coming your way over Station F.L.O.P, , Haysi, Va. My sponsors are two great millionaires, Sue A. and Kay K. , composers of that great novel, Kwitchurebelyakin. At the top of the headlines I have sad news for everyone. The President of the United States, Joe K. , and his eight bodyguards, Kermit W. , Beacher H. , Ralph K. , Charles A. , Delmar B. , Roger C. , Bobby D. and Wayne F. , were shaken up a bit today when the station wagon in which they were riding overturned near Curtis O. , most famous Women ' s Auxiliary Clubhouse. When State Policeman Richard Owens, accompanied by his deputy , Loyall H. , asked what caused the accident, Chauffeur Glenn O. answered in a very merry tone, White Lightenin ' Cheer, dwelleth here. On Sunday, January 3, singing sensations Weda C. and Emory F. appeared on the Margaret A. , TV show. They sang their most recent recording, TOM DUTY. This morning Reverend Tommy L. Anderson of the First Presbyterian Church led the choir in a very beautiful hymn, Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown. At the same time across the street Tommy S. Anderson, of the Second Presbyterian Church led their choir in an equally beautiful hymn, No Not One. Rancher Nancy A. has always wondered how fellow rancher Dennis Owens brands skinny cattle so fast. Today she found the solu- tion. He lines them up five in a row and brands them with carbon paper. Congressman Bob Fuller says to be a good citizen you must love your enemy. Ex-Congressman Danny H. says drink is man’s worst enemy. Ring -Leader Avery Edwards will probably go down in History as one of the greatest Ring -Leaders of our times. He recently led his gang behind the wall of Sing-Sing. He was graciously accompanied by Roger C. M. and Roger D. Mullins. Trella Hensley was recently chosen to represent the United States in the Miss Universe Contest. Virginia B. will cover the story on XCQ TV. Miss Bowman will also be given the medal for the best TV reporter of the year. It will be presented to her by last year ' s winner Alice O. Patsy S. , a local student at Haysi Tech, plans to go to Germany soon. She will further her studies in baby care. Nurses Peggy P. and Priscilla V. have delivered their 1,001st baby. The baby was Actress Jerline Sykes ' s niece. Miss Barbara M. , director of the Haysi Glee Club, will be guest of honor at the Coconut Grove. She was chosen to represent Haysi in the Annual get-together of Old Maids. Jean W. and Helen T. were the second females to ever make a trip to the moon. Dixie S. , Janice R. , Gay T. and Janice O. welcomed them with a big celebration. These six gals will return to earth where they will be met at the New York airport by their landlady, Gay F. Six -foot-five Raymond R. of Haysi Tigers made all star this year. His manager, Roby W. , says Raymond will be entered in the Olympics next year. Gary and Vearl, along with their Sutherland Brothers Circus, will tour Europe this year. They have already toured the 48 states and part of West Virginia. Banker Bobby C. reported that his assistants, Jerry C. and Edwin D. , aren ' t working too good lately. They seem to disagree as to what a figure really is. Judge Tivis T. Sentenced a former lawyer, Johnny V. , to 30 days in jail today. Judge Turner refused to tell our reporter why the sen- tence was passed. He only said, I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might tend to incriminate myself. The Judge will start his new job as dog catcher next week. As we all know, Paul O. , Bill P. , Mackie R. , and Glenn S. are members of the Town Council. Willard E. serves as mayor. These five men have decided that parking meters are not a necessity in Haysi. Slugs and washers have completely taken the place of money, Francis G. has announced himself as a candidate for Governor of Virginia. Arvil C. has stated that he will also be a candidate. Which one will win? Will it take more than Gross to beat a Clevinger? King of the cowboys, Palmer McCowan, and Queen of the Cowgirls, MaryM. , will star in the 1959 Fall Rodeo. This will take place on the left hand fork of Backbone Ridge, Virginia. Actress Carolyn Payne and her husband, actor Paul E. , recently welcomed a little bundle from heaven. When reporter Don O. asked Paul what the new infant was, Paul replied, It ' s definitely a Payne. Kitty Mondrage discovered today that she could eat fire. Sue H. says there ' s no doubt now that she will make the Hall of Flame. Light- weight women ' s wrestling champion of the world, Irene C. , will appear on WXYZ TV Tuesday nite. Her opponent will be Frieda S. After the main event there will be a gag team bout. Nina and Bernice E. versus Nancy and Shirley F. Be sure to see these exciting matches. The popular Joyce Davis will referee. Movie star Mary Davis suffered a broken leg when she slipped and fell down the gangplank of the A. J. Hornet passenger plane. She had just returned from Paris where she met Fay Fuller, Queen of France. The two airline hostesses Edith Davis and Theta Edwards, said Miss Davis was too anxious to purchase a copy of Tom Duty. Mr. Jim Mullins has been named by the school board to succeed Mr. Hohn Caywood as principal of H.H.S. Jim got his master ' s degree at ole Haysi Tech. What does the future hold for our two great scientists, Johnny Colley and Mack Mullins? Will they or will they not climb Gobblers Knob? Today marked their second attempt only to return to Haysi to tell their people they had failed again. I ' ll bet we all know their theme song for climbing. Lovers Question. Betty Sykes and Janet Sutherland are the stars in producer Sue Yates ' s new movie, The Life and Legend of Janice Newberry. P.T.A. president Brenda Owens called a special meeting yesterday of the members. Integration was discussed to a great extent. Two parents, Wanda Owens and Mozelle Rasnake, declared that they refused to let their children go to school with Martians. union SHIRLEY ROBERTS PAT MILLER ROGER EDWARDS CAROLYN NEWBERRY HELEN OWENS TRINA VIERS BOBBY THOMAS CLARA MULLINS PHYLLIS FULLER ANNA BARTLEY LEWIS OWENS EMMA BRANHAM KIT KISER NADINE FLEMING LINDA OWENS JUANITA RASNICK THELMA WRIGHT JERRY BARTON WILHELMINA BOWEN MARY FULLER SHARON DAVIS JANICE STANLEY BOBBY YATES KAYE VIERS T% iiiar PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE TIVIS POWERS KAREN OWENS BOBBY O ' QUIN ■-e_ CHARLES RATLIFF ROBERT BAKER SALLY OWENS GLENN POWERS EDGAR McCOWAN RUBY MULLINS , EDDIE SUTHERLAND NORMAN GIBSON SUSIE FULLER V :% WiEY : 4JmRAJCA¥L0R“ V HELEN COMPTON - ton ' ey brAnham • ' WrON MULLINS RONALD SUTHERLAND PATSY YATES ZANE COUNTS LINDA PUCKETT JUNE OWENS JERALDINE FULLER LESTER KISER MONROE RASNAKE FANNY AMOS SANDRA ANDERSON $L Ji 7 : ' -ft -umr f Un. £, ROSA ANDERSON SAMUEL HURT CHARLOTTE HACKNEY ’ jj y y vu VU+Qs ' i PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE ANNE GOOD DONALD FULLER JOANNE STEVENS GLENN TURNER SANDRA SUTHERLAND FERN O’QUIN KILBY EDWARDS NINA GARTIN NORMAN BOWMAN GARY GIBSON GAINES BARTON MORGAN ANDERSON MARY CAIN VICTOR R.
