Through the efforts of this group, building programs are promoted which keep pace with the rapid increase in enrollment that has been going on in the city of Hays. In September, 1952, the district voted S430 000 to be added to 520,000 in the building fund, for additions to Hays High School. The building was started in the spring of 1953 and will be completed for use in Septem- ber, 1954. The plans include an auditorium that seats 918 students, a cafeteria with an adequate kitchen, seven new classrooms and three shops-one for metal, one for agriculture and one for crafts. The two present shops are to be remodeled and made into one large shop for woodwork. Clyde U. Phillips, A. M Superintendent C. A.
