Qrchestra The Haynesville High School String Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. M. J. Nygaard, was one of the first to be organized in the state. This orchestra has played for many programs and concerts and for the Louisiana Music Education Association at its annual luncheon at the Washington-Youree Hotel in Shreveport in 1946. National Honor Society The National Honor Society, which stands to high school studenis as Phi Beta Kappa does to college students, demands highest achievements in leadership, scholarship, character, and service of its members. At the beginning of the 1946 school term, the Haynesville chapter had three members - Joy Ann Branton, Wilmyrth Bevill, and Thomas Arnold.
