The Vikings placed 2nd in the Wasioja Conference both on the basis of their dual meet record and the conference tournament. There were four seniors who wrestled regular on this year's team and they completed the year with a com- bined record of 57 wins 21 losses and 2 ties. Three of these seniors, Dave Young, Roger Martin and Doug Win- slow also represented Hayfield in Region I tournament action. The loss of these seniors will be difficult to replace, but their absences will give a number of other individuals a chance to prove their skills. The 1973-74 squad should have a number of boys who have had considerable experi- ence and they will be counted on heavily to lead the Vikings to hopefully a successful season. Individuals who have won various honors during the season areg Wade Kester, 1st at Alden and District II Tournamentsg Doug Winslow, lst at Alden, Dave Young, lst at Alden and Caledonia Tournaments, and Mark Bauman, lst at Alden, District II and in the Wasioja Conference Tournaments. Every- one met again at 4:00 Thursday morning in the back of the High School to board the busses. For the first time, Mike Haugen made it on time, but unfortunately, Andra Edgar's alarm clock kept her from getting there on time. Finally at 4:30 the busses were on their way. First stop was at the Country Kitchen in Anoka for breakfast. At 10:30 A.M., 89 seniors and their 8 chaperones arrived at Madden's Resort in Brainerd. After lunch everyone split up to find their own pleasure or do their own thing from sunning and swimming to a quick round on the golf course. The beautiful weather enabled the group to enjoy all of the facilities, especially the sauna and the lake. Friday afternoon saw the departure from Madden's at 3:00 P.M. for the journey home. The busses stopped in South St. Paul for supper, where some seniors ate at McDonalds, some at Perkins, and still others at the Coun- try Kitchen. After arriving in Hayfield around 9:30 P.M. a good share of the-stillgnot exhausted seniors headed for the Terp in Austin to cap off the long week-end. 3 f -M' ffl? f no .
