I was only allowed two weeks, as I was teaching during the summer also, I decided to call on Gene Venhaus, who was now flying space ships. to take Just and saw cinated He said that after escaping from so many accidents, that he had decided up a safe occupation, and this was it. as we were getting ready to leave Hayes Center we heard a lot of music a circus parade coming down the street. Since a circus had always fas- me I wanted to go to this one before we left. As we were entering the circus we heard a barker telling about his feature act. You can imagine our sur- prise when we recognized the barker as Larry Hamilton. His feature act was Mamie De Vall, the fan dancer, whose real name was Marjorie Ring. Inside the tent we noticed that everyone was intently watching the trapeze acts. Looking up we saw the thrilling performance of Donald Paulson, the tight rope walker. Donald told us Mary Ann Richards still lived in Hayes Center. She has be- come a highly successful writer. Her latest book, HHow to Plan a wedding in Eight Hoursn, is listed as one of the top books of the year. It was now time to leave on our trip. along the street we met Joe Nitsch. He manship, in his high school days he had his best field for selling was ladies' 1! Bulge No Moren girdles known the world Not long after we met Bonnie LaShell Our first stop was Chicago. Walking said that after his experience of sales- decided to become a salesman. He found girdles. He has made the trade name of over. She informed us that she had just re- turned from a trip around the world. She had been demonstrating the fine art of bubble gu blowing. She said it had been her favorite past time in high school. She has broken all records for bubble blowing. Next we landed at New York. At the Waldorf Astoria we ran into Donnie Cur- ran, who is now a salesman for playground equipment. He also instructs in Jun- ior high school. As you recall he always was interested in girls of that age, That evening we attended a dance in the beautiful blue and gold ball room. The featured dancer of the evening was Dean Mintllng. He told us that he was a dancing instructor. He has named his latest dance Mintling's Musical Minuet. It has really taken New York by storm. From New York we went to Washington, D. C, While touring the white House we met Estaline Johnson. She said after leaving high school she became interested in politics. She is now a famous orator and is in much demand as a public speaker She and nMamien are close friends. Having heard so much about the Indianapolis speedway we decided to stop for a short time and watch a few races. There we was a green Chevie No. 13 win every race. We were curious to know who the driver was and were we surprised to see Marvin Evans. He says he believes he has the fastest thing on four wheels. Our next stop was Miami, Florida. Walking along the beach we noticed a huge fence and on it the sign, nEthylee's Alligatorsu, best in the South. We wondered if it were the Ethylee we knew andsure enough it was.w5a3ked ner why she started an alligator farm and here was her story. She said that she had started taking nursing training but due to personal difficulties she quit. Next she took up singing but the only contracts she could get was to sing hill billy songs so she gave that up. As we remember Ethylee always had a great love for animals, es- pecially the ones the least cared for. while on vacation in Florida she decided to take up her childhood desire and care for animals. As alligators are the least cared for, you can guess the rest. She said her farm is doing very well. She has 29 favorites and each one is named after a member of the senior class of l95h. Further on down the beach we saw a large crowd gathered around a race track. Stopping to see what was going on we saw Berdine Carr giving an exhibition of her motor cycle riding ability. From what we hear she is one of the greatest dare devils in the United States. H. , 1,1 we .r 4, ' ff Vyfv 4, ' 51 'V , 5, -2, L, 'f v-.J YP ' JM.-ff ' , -' ,' ,xt ,-Tw amy.: 'jg f..7,,s' ', J . There we saw Melvin McVicker. He informed us that he owned a chain of gas stations all over the world. From all appearances he is doing a very prosperous business. We then went to the State of Texas, city of Dallas. We decided to stay at a dude ranch. We found it was managed by Dixie Hubbard. At the ranch we met Gan- land Bodeman. He told us he had discovered oil in Texas and was really coining the jack. nMoney Bags Bodemanu they call him. He has just divorced his fifth wife and says he is just looking around now. Leaving Dallas we went to Mexico City to watch the bull fights. Just as we arrived at the stadium, matador, Lyle Downs, entered. His assistant was Devona McKillip. After the fight we visited with them and Devona said that she went in the ring cmcasionally. She said that Lyle could really throw the bull. From Mexico we flew across the Atlantic to Paris, France. While doing sons shopping in a famous Paris dress shop we met Virginia Jirik. She said since she had enjoyed Miss Green's home ec. class so much she decided to take more work in that line. She is now one of the most famous suit designers in Paris. Next we went to Holland. As you remember that is a country where ice skating is very popular and to our surprise we met Wayne Hastings. He had just finished putting on an exhibition of ice skating. He said that he had discovered his ambition through an unusual incident in his high school days. Next stop was Rome, Italy. While we were surveying some of the old ruins of Rome, we met Roland Anderjaska. He told us that he was an archeologist and was engaged to a beautiful Italian girl. Both have learned to speak Latin, which is a Romance language. Although Latin is considered a dead language both Roland and his fiancee agree that it is far from dead. Crossing the blue Mediterranean we landed in Egypt. Just as we arrived at the air port we saw a long camel caravan. We were astonished to see Jim Garrett driving them. He said he had given up life in the United States and settled doua in Cairo. He says he wouldn't trade his camels for any car in the world. Leaving Egypt we journeyed to Turkey. We were invited to spend the evenhg with the Marharaja of Saudi. After the feast which had been prepared for us, the entertainment began. You can imagine our surprise when we saw Wanda Hastings was one of the dancing girls. Later when we were talking to Wanda she told us she had taken up entranced by her Our next stop a herd of cattle he once thought dancing and came to Turkey. There she met the Marharajag he was dancing and had made her his number one wife in his harem. was Calcutta, India. There in the middle of the street we saw and in the midst of the herd was Wallace Allison. He said that he would be happy if he never saw another cow, but after a few years without them,he became so lonesome for them that he moved to India, where he now has the largest herd of cattle in the country. The blond girl with him could be no other than Carol Rucker. We then flew to Shanghai, China. Walking along the street we saw a sign, June West's Mortuary. We couldn't feature June in this kind of an occupation, We immediately entered and found out the answer. She said she hadn't started out to be a mortician but due to a mix up inc curses she now was, After she fin- 1Sh6d high school she signed up to be a beauticianghowever they thought she had said mortician. When she told them differently they wouldn't refund her money, so she took the course. She said she was doing a thriving business. Our now an school next hop was to Sidney, Australia, and there we met Jack Bishop. He is instructor in shorthand. He said that the shorthand classes of his high days had so inspired him that he had decided to make it his profession. He now writes 250 words a minute and is still improving. We surprised to see Jim Lee at the village. He informed us he had decided to become an explorer of the North Pole regions. He liked the climate so well that he had decided to make it his home. He is now planning on marrying, Alaba Nyosa Angala, an Eskimo heiress. We hope that he isnft marrying for money alone. then flew to the North Pole and landed at a small Eskimo village. were we an-12 . ' E.. , wx . 2:55-?...:: J .,,:vgf-V x 5 Af ' -nf' .'
