Of this num ber nineteen remain. Those atsent are:Ruby Crooks,Nadine Vickery, Walter Broz, Laverne McKillip and Wayne Carter. Nadine went back to Oklahoma and Ruby discontinued her school1ng,at the end of our Freshman year,while walter Bun and Laverne McKillip took up their scholastic careers in McCook. At the end of the first semester this year, we lost Wayne Carter who moved to Superior with his parents. Miss Majors, who was our sponsor la:t year, also moved away. During the first part of this year,another member was add ed to our class, Lylis Norman,who came from RcCook,maklng the to tal number in our class tvcnty. Early in the year,the sophomores gave the Freshmen a ne'er to be forgotten initiation. The Fresh men just barely survived from spat lines,worms, lipstick and oth er similar atrocities. All the members of the class have done outstanding work in one field or another and four of the Sopho more girls helped represent Hayes County at the inter-high school contest at Kearney. Betty Ward and Mary Lou Repass represented English, and Betty ward, Mary Lou Repass, and Beverly Swenson Unk the Latin II test, while Dorothy Schuman participated in World History and Dramatics, The class colors are green and tan, and the officers chosen fa' the year 46-47 were as follows Yresident ------- J ------------------------------------ Duane Fisher Vice President ------------------------------------ Mary Lou Repass Secretary ----------------------------------------- Beverly Swanson Treasurer -------- --------------------------------- ---- -Duane Cox Class Sponsor ------------------------------------------ Miss Ehler PEP CLUB A group of 44 merry girls splnsored by Miss Ehler, our princi pal, enjoyed the various activities. of the year. Many pep club programs were presented, giving each girl a chance to be on the stage. Refreshments were sold therein skirt material was bought Each girl bought her own blouse and made or had her skirt made Two fine drills were presented and to cap the outstanding activi ties of the year a grand party consisting of a fine program, eats for everyone and gifts for the coaches wa: given the final day In short,we had a wonderful year of good co-operation and sports manship and we are eagerly looking to next year for another year of enjoyment. MUSIC The music department of the Hayes County High School,under the direction of Mr. Hanley, continued to grow. Sixty six students registered for mixed chorus, nineteen for band. In addition, sev eral small groups were formed during the year. Among these were the girl's glee club, the mixed octet, the boy's octet and the male quartet. Each of these groups entertained at various public functions throughout the year. On March the th1rd,the department presented a musical in the high school auditorium. Because of the prevalence of scarlet fever and mumps, the Hayes County High was not represented at the district contest which vas held at Hold redge.
