“ x 0' C Q 0 1 I , f I . , l Q , X Y essay S2 'ESNQSS 'J' JUNIOR CLASS On the first of September, 1945, twenty four very scared and bewildered freshmen entered into the halls of Hayes County High School everyone of this number remained vith us throurh out the freshmen year Our class sponsor was Hazel bhase During our Sophomore year we were glad to welcome into our class Glen Viddelton and Mary Lou Kinney, who were in the year of forty five enrolled at the Vauneta Hizh School But this increase added only to our sorrow, when we lost Joan Enyeart who moved to Oregon, and at the end of the year Harold Sexton enrolled at Iallace Mrs Chase was also our class sponsor during our Sophomore year Vhen school started this fall ve welcomed to our class Tlah Mae Laird who formerly was a student of the school but was unable to attend up to now on account of illness Mrs Florence Counce was selected as out class sponsor,and the officers for the ye r were chosen at our first class meeting Richard Counce President Ilah Repass Vice President Manda Mosley Secretary Rosa Belle Curran Treasurer On September 13, the ring man came to visit us Our selection was the oval rinrs with blue spinel sets On November 25 and 26 we presented the annual Junior play The Blundering Herd', a western comedy in three acts The setting took place on the porch of the Long Horn Ranch located somewhere in the cattle country Ne were fortunate in havinw wonderful evenings and consequent ly a full house both nirhts It was fun preparing for the play and I'm certain everyone did his or her part to make it the great success it wus ie give thanks to our director Miss Alice shler and our spon sor, mrs Florence vounce The play was presented by the following cast Jalrus, Foreman of Long Horn Ranch ----------------- Richard Counce Pappy, A Permanent Fixture on tae Ranch ---------------- Hugh Laird Timothy Tyan, Looking for Adventure ---------------- Bernard Aittle Zip, A Box Car Traveler ----------------------- Richard F. Peterson Gordon Rodgers, An Easterner --------------------- Richard Hlntling Schoo-Hi, vhlnese Cook ------------------------------ Bill Venhause Peggy Houston, Owner of hong Horn Ranch -------------- Hands Mosley Ruth Bell, A Neighbor of Peggy ------------------ Rosa Belle Curran Miss Herring, A Spinster from the East ------- Geraldine Fagerstone Sylvia 1 Nards ---------------------------------- Barbara Peterson Mildred D of ------------------ ------------------------ Ilah Repass Carolyn D Miss Herring ------------------------------ Nora Campbell Between the first and second acts singing and square dancing was provided for entertainment by the rest of the class. The Junkn'and Senior banquet was held April twenty-sixth nine- teen forty seven, at the I.0.0.F. Hall. Special guests included Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Counce,Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Yonkers, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gigax,Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Fornoff, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph LaShell, Mrs. Mryta Low, Mrs. S. B. Hanley, Mrs. K. R. Jones, Mr. H. M. Counce, Mr. R. C. Chase and two former students of the school, Eileen Hopkins and Harold Sex- ton. A circus theme was carried out with the Senior colors being scarlet and gray. The tables were decorated with a long line of various animals placed down the centers of the tables, the walls and ceiling were festooned with balloons, pennants, and large drawings of circus animals.
