PIANO CLASS This year the Oxford Piano Method was offered to the students of this high school. The first semester the nemoers of the class, which is taught by Mrs. Stiles, were: Shirley Counce, Sheila Counce, Byrdine Laird, nary Ann Mchillip, Donna Lewin, Fauneil Fornoff, Lois Yonkers, Joan McDowell, Lewinta Mcnowell, Shirley Thom,son, Dona Bart611, Arles Bruce, Bernice Brown, Gloria Irland, Delores Hcilllip, La aughn Reese, Omalea Fornoff, Florence Jones, Twila Mintling, and Vonda Wilson. The second semester an Advanced Piano Class was started, and also another Beginners tlass was organized. The Advanced Piano class con- sists of eight members who will receive their older beginners cer- tificates at the end of the year. The Beginners Class is composed of four members who will receive their Beginners Certificates at the end of the year. The students in this school are fortunate to get this class in the Oxford Piano Method, as there are very few public schools in this state that have teachers who are quallfied to give this course. 21

Stiles, Dewinta lcDowel1, Donna Lewin, Illa Hopkins, Shirley Counoe, Marilyn Alexander, Joan McDowell, Lavaughn Reese, and Gloria Irland. CHORUS The Hayes County High School choral group has given several per- formances in public this year. They sang between acts of the All School Play. and also participated in the annual Christmas Program. Shortly before school was out, they sang at the Achievement Day of the Project Clubs of Hayes County. Several small groups were also organized under the direction of Mrs. Stiles. They included a sextette, a quartette, and a number of soloists. The members of the sextette were: Bettie Beezley, Mary Ann McKillip, Byrdine Laird, Lois Yonkers, Fauneil Fornoff, and Patricia Meade. Bartell, Carl Schuman, Jack 0'Brien, Merle Seed, and mer Rucker. FOOTBALL Robert McDonald was the student manager this year. The games played here were with Stratton, Palisade and Maywood. The game played away was with Stratton. Merle Seed, Carl Schuman, Jack O'Brlen, Lyle Glee, Duane Bixler, Omer Rucker, Edward Schmelzer, and Robert McKillip were the lettermen of the season. Jack O'Brien was elected honorary captain. On the first team were: Merle Seed, Carl Schuman, Jack O'Brlen, Lyle Glee, Edward Schmelzer and Omer Rucker. The substitutes were: Duane Bixler, Dwayne Counce, Wayne Pace, Dick Schneider, Bill Leffler, Wayne Beezley, Curtis Bodeman, Leonard Nelms, Charles Strop, Roger Seed, and Robert McKillip. am
