HCHS Phyllis Laird, Arlyiss Housman, Shirley Mosely, Donna Lee Lewin, Shirley Thompson, Lois Yonkers, Donna Fisher, Rachel Brown, Opal Schneider, Patricia Orman, Byrdine Laird, Patricia Meade, Miss Johnston, Deloris Rann, Dolores Strop, Bettie Beezley, Shirley Mae Counce, Jeans Ward, Fauneil Fornoff, Ilah Lawson. NORMAL TRAINING The future teachers of Hayes County are nineteen in number. Nine are juniors and ten are seniors. Before the janlors can be promoted to the senior normal training they must pass five of the seventeen teacher's examinations. The professional trainers have to pass twelve of them in order to graduate. To obtain a certificate, the seniors must pass all seventeen state eaam-nations and have practice teaching one week in a rural school. Those who have all their grades and are eligible for a certificate are: Bettie Beazley, Shirley Counce, Phyllis Laird, Byrdine Laird, and Patricia Meade. 17

FRES MEN The Freshman class can boast of being the largest class in school with an enrollment of 28 pupils. They survived the initiation party which was really tough, and are recognized as a fine class. All the girls are required to take Home Economics and the boys take Manual Training. Fourteen of them participate in musical groups and four are taking the Oxford Piano Course. A number of the boys went out for football and basketball and show promising results. I-ICHS ' ALL SCHOOL PLAY wa 4 . 'II IE? 'H . - in J The All School Play nYoung Qoctor Youngu was given November 8, 1945 at the Hayes County High School and was very well attended. The cast was chosen from the entire stuient body and included Junior Wach, Fauneil Fornoff, Vonda Wilson, Duane Bixler, Mary Ann McKillip, Bettie Beezley, Sheila Counce, Byrdine Laird, Lyle Clee, and Dwayne Counce, The play was aoout a young doctor who nas comgleted nis training and has come back to his little home town for a v1-1t. He has great ambitions about setting up a practice with a famous doctor from the city, while his home folks have sacrificed in order that he may ,rac- tice at home. nYoung Doctor Youngn discovers a serum for combating a disease and saves the life of a baby by use of this serum. He is then famous but his sweetheart convinces him that it will be better to stay home and he does so to the satisfaction of every one concerned. ONE ACT PLAYS Members of the two slay casts for une nin't none Right By Nelln were Illa Hopkins, Phyllis Laird, June Baragary, Omer Rucker, Harold Richards, Robert Huntwcrk, Donna Lewin, Beryle Beebe, Omalea Fornoff, Shirley Thompson, iooert McDonald, Dick Schneider, Bill Leffler, and Darlene Bright. The casts for nwho Gets The Car Tonightu were Dale hcNutt, Duane Bixler, Dona Bartell, Patty Meade, Carl Schuman, Dwayne Counce, Duane Reese, Maydine Potter, Rachel Brown, and Don McGi1li.ary. The cast for nJacob Comes Homen was Arlyiss Honsman, Shirley Mae Counce, Robert McDonald,M:rle Seed,Edward Schmelzer, and Vonda Wilson. Mrs. Dixon was the director of these plays. Swing Band entertained the crowd before the performance began and between each play. These plays were judged and the performers were given the ratings as follows: SJPEEIOR: Dale Mcnutt, Shirley Mae Counce, and Robert McDonald. EXCELLENT: Patty Meade, Phyllis Laird, Beryle Beeoe, Dona Bartell, Dwayne Counce, Rachel brown, and Don McGillivary. GOOD: Vonda Wilson, gmer Rucker, Merle Seed and Bill Leffler. FAIR: Illa hopkins, Omalea Fornoff, Shirley Thompson, Arlyiss Housnan, and Dick Schneider. 18
