HCHS ff CLASS PROPHECY New York City February, 1954 Dear Mr. Bartell, Since you were our class sponsor, I can imagine you would like to know how all of the members are now. In the first place Robert Huntwork is the owner of a garage in Hayes Center. He says that business is good. Speaking of H.C., there is a new hospital being built through the efforts of Shirley Mosley whose vast fortune has made her very popular. I presume that you have heard Jack O'Brlen's comedy program on the radio Friday nights. Carl Schuman and his swing band also come on Friday night but his vocalist is what I like. Mary Ann McKillip really has a wonderful voice. Speaking of fame, Beryle Beebe has made good in Hollywood. She is now starring in the current picture NA NIGHT IN EDINBURG.u Only two of the class became teachers. Arlyiss Housman liked it so well, she eventually became a child psychologist. Phyllis Laird is teaching in a college in Chicago, but I think she is more interested in a sailor out there. The cousins did well as Shirley Counce is a scientist noted for her research in new plastics. Sheila Counce, after working in a hospital for some time, married a doctor and they live in Vermont, Merle Seed is the only farmer and to date is unmarried but you know the country is still full of single girls. Junior Each owns the title of the DEVIL WHO DEFIES DEATH with Lynch's Dare-Devil-Death- Drivers. Darlene McLeland is the one that surprgsed me. She is on a world cruise and is in Russia at the present time. Robert McKillip makes a good warden at the State Pen and is the idol of the prisoners there You remember Jeane Ward, the girl with the black hair? She is a beauty operator in Los Angeles. She has a very nice office. But you could never guess about Omer Rucker! He owns a dude ranch in Nevada. If you want to know of a good place to vacation, I advise you to go there, as it is quite a place. A couple of them are making home-making their career. Bettie Beezley lives with her husband in Hawaii, and Shirley Thompson who is also a sailor's wife lives in Cheyenne. Opal Schneider isn't married yet, but I hear she is contemplating matrimony with one of the roomers at her boarding house. Byrdine Laird has achieved her ambition as an air-line stewardess. She is engaged to a handsome pilot. Dale McNutt has been very successful. He has a profitable job in Washington D.C. He is very modest about it, however, he is also a good friend of the President. Donald McGill1vary is at home among the natives of Borneo as he is a missionary there and Hardy Reese is the minigter of his home town, good old Hayes Center. People shouldn't talk about themselves but I guess you are inter- ested in me, too. I have become an authoress. I'm not saying how famous, but I am preparing for a trip in the South for material for my new novel. There you have it, the where-abouts and information of the grad- uating class of 1944. I'm sure every one is proud of them for we always were a good class. CJD 255' ' l5
