NMI PEP CLUB Pep Club met this fall with thirty-six members. From this group were chosen Nadyne Roe, Betty Beezley and Doris Schnei- der as cheer leaders with Nadyne as captain. After Betty moved to attend Hamlet High School, Byrdine Laird was chosen to take her place. The squad wore white satin blouses and red corduroy skirts. In order to be distinguished from the other girls, the leaders wore red corduroy boleros and red beanies with white tassels. Several attractive drills were given on the home football field and basket ball floor. They participated in the French- man Valley Pep Club Drill Tournament at Stratton. The Pep Club is a unit taken from the Physical Education class, pictured below. s The group is ponsored by Miss Marie Wellensiek. K

NM!! REGULAR AND JUNIOR GIRLS GLEE CLUB Girls Glee Club consists of fifty-eight members. Under the direction of Miss Morgan, the Club has sung for several programs. This year the school furnished robes for them. They are of a navy blue color with a large white collar. All the girls are very proud of them. The sextette consists of the following members: Doris V. Schneider, Arlene Hajeck, Velma Wilson, Mary Lee Jones, Wilma Mintling and Mary Ann McKillip. Faye Gangwish is the piano accompanist. M 17 -

NMI BASKETBALL First Team Second Team Vernon Christner Wilbur Thompson Curtis Leffler Hardy Reese Verl Glee Harold Counce Louis Stackhouse Carl Schuman Lester Hoback Lyle Glee Vernon Kotschwar Jerry Housman Ed Schmelzer, Duane Reese, Jack O'Brian, Robert McDonald, and Junior Wach are on the third squad. The prospects for the second team look good for next year. The first team succeeded in scoring a victory over Max at the Frenchman Valley tournament held at Stratton. Mr. Evans, substituting as coach this year, feels that the season has been very successful from the standpoint of sports- manship and the development of better basket shooting and team work. l - lg -
