Hayes Counfy, Nebraska A Progressive Community Hayes County is located at the western end of that section of Nebraska which is designated as The Central Corn ana' Livestock Area. As the name of this region implies, the chief industry of the county is diversified farming. Farms in the canyon areas consist of level land for grain farming and rough land for pasture. The latest census tables give the population of the county as 3,602 and show that there has been a gradual increase in the number of residents since 1900. The progressive spirit of the citizens is typified by the manner in which they have responded to the present day social and economic problems confronting them. The people have chosen their representatives wisely. The busi- ness of the county has been conducted on a sound basis which has enabled the county government to withstand the unusual demands made upon it as a result of the drouth and other trying conditions of the last few years. 120.-..
