WW RXX,v M Y,,-,,.-v V NMMA vvvff M-WM --fA- MM f--f- - VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM HEAD COACH james 'vVheater ASSISTANT COACHES Alfred Saner, Stanley Silverbexrg Ronald Cardell FOOTBALL 9 Hawthorne commenced this football season with an experienced team under the able leadership of Head Coach Wheater and his assistants, Saner, Cardell, and Silverberg. The sincere and en- thusiastic support of the student body gave our team the spirit needed for a victorious season. The team fought hard and worked together to make the season a success with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses. Our first game was at home and a victory over Fort Lee with a score of 18-6. The next game was played against Pompton Lakes at their field,4' giving us a winning total of 13-7. Passaic Valley played us at our field and gave the Bears their third successive victory with a score of 24-13. Our next game played against Ramapo at their Held in the rain was our first loss. The game was very well played and Ramapo tallied only 2 points to our 0. The fifth game of the season was played at Westwood against Pascack Valley, and the score was Pascak, 265 Hawthorne, 13. The season was climaxed with our greatest victory. We played at home against River Dell and won by the excep- tional margin of 25-0.
