STEPHEN W MOSHIER Supervising Principal During your high school days many persons have striven to im press upon you that Americas fu ture 1S in your hands and that you must insure our countrys progress both socially and economically In order to be a good citizen you must be capable of more than mere existence under the protection of our Constitution. You have been given an education at public expense and with it goes an obligation on your part to contribute to the nation- al growth ana preservation of our ideals. To meet this responsibility you need appropriate and complete pre- paration. This means that your grad- uation from high school should be the beginning or a lifetime desire for continuous study whether in formal institutions or by your own plan- ning. Your future continuous education should be dedicated to adjusting yourself to the demands of the mod- ern world in which you live and to the appreciation of the moral intel- lectuat and aesthetic values that are necessary in order to enjoy a satis- fying personal life. All the goals of true education in this country converge upon a single As the Class of 1950 is about to leave the familiar surroundings of Hawthorne High School I should like to offer a few words of counsel To each of you as you proceed farther on lifes way I would sug gest a brief formula for success Resolve yourself to the best ideals of hte Add to that resolution the in gredients of courage ambition and a real mental effort and I am certain that there will be no ambition that you cannot attain Sincerely WMWLM .-L lt. O1 GEORGE I. GEIER Principal objective namely that your educa- tion contains all the elements that will enable you not merely to exist but to thrive in a contemporary and exacting environment. The cheerleaders, among the best in the state, start- ed the season with new uniforms. The team practiced constantly, working toward perfection, and although they lost the first game to Lodi, their hard work was shown when they won the three following games. We ended up the season sucessfully, finishing third in the league. Next year will find the following members missing: A. Agnes, B. Beilstein, R. Lane, R. Craig, A. Buis, R. Clarke, I.
