De- garmo returned to the United States in August. TWO OF KIND-Senior Gena Thomas pals around with her newly adopted Swiss sister. Thomas was also a member of Drama. Switzerland, Costa Rica, Tunisia, Ireland. Have you ever longed to get away? Through the American Field Service getting away was possible for four seniors. 'Everything was so beautifull comment- ed Gena Thomas. The people, the food, and the scenery were the highlights of her stay in Switzerland. Because of the hot climate in Tunisia, Pris- tina Jackson went to the beach often and played volleyball. Qther People, 0ther Places Struggling to communi- cate with her family, she advised, You've got to be patient and strong when you're in a foreign country. Evelis Degarmo trav- eled south of the bor- der to tropical Costa Rica. With guests al- ways at her house and music always playing, making new friends was no difficulty. The experience was great for me, said Evelis, because l got the chance to meet people that l could never have met. Working for a lorcl was the best part of it all, remarked Raquel Moore. Her stay in Ire- land was different be- cause she was a mem- ber of the household staff of Lord Rosse. Meeting new people, making new friends, seeing new places, and learning to be in- dependent were com- mon experiences of all four travelers.
