WHAT IS THAT? - Robert Barksdale and Dan Kar- ella look on in great dismay. Karella was the Activia ties Director at Hawtholne High. GETTING' DOWN - Senior Kevin Harris attempts to bend his body to get under the Limbo stick. Harris was on the football team. FLYIN' HIGH - Junior Toyka Lee is being flipped during a stunt by fellow Pep Squad members. This was Lee's second year on Pep Squad. IN THE BEGINNING - This was often a sight for students who had a first period. First period started at 7:05 each morning. DEAD BODY - Junior Rachel Moore was a victim of the mystery. A lot of students became victims lying around the campus.

They like Hawthorne High! the group re- peated astounded. At once, the room was in an uproar. 'Nobody likes school! cried someone. School can't be fun! cried another. The man at the head ot the table stood up abruptly, and the people tell quiet. Obvious- ly, he began, this Hawthorne High School is up to something very suspicious. No school can be this good. Or can it? cut in the skinny man. The kids l talked to seemed to be pretty happy. And it's our job to find out why! said the head man sternly. 'lYou, he pointed to the skinny man, you arelgoing to do a little detec- tive work. Here, he handed him a coat and hat, it is your job to tind out what these kids do at school. l During lunch, added a woman. After school. ln class. Out ot class. ii Students All Have Motives The dark figure balanced on a tree branch, hidden by the red and gold leaves. Below him sat a group of students, unaware of his pres- ence. Maybe they could answer his first gues- tion. He had to find out what they did when they weren't in school. Homework, right? Cr was there something better to do? He listened in- tently as the students began to talk. Are you going to the lce Cream Social to- night? l'Qf course, and to the football game, too. Wasn't that a good pep rally at lunch? Great! Any parties later on? l don't know. There's supposed to be a good one tornorrow night. Saturday at last! We're going surfing tomor- row morning. Want to come? UNO, thanks. Mom says she Won't let me go dancing at 3-2- l unless l babysit my little broth- er for a while. '!Too bad. Hey, who do you think will Win for Homecoming King and Queen? l'm not sure. Hope the dance will be good. Don't forget, next week's Aloha Week. Right See you later! Shouldering their backpacks, the students moved on, leaving the dark figure starting after them with his mouth wide open. So that's what they did with their free time! Sounded like fun.
