During the fifteen years that Mr. Smith has been connected with the Hawkins Schools, he has seen it grow from a little four-teacher elementary school with an evaluation of S35,000.to its present status of a fully affiliated. independent high school with an evaluation of S20,000,000. We in the Hawkins school system are assured that Mr. Smith is largely responsible for this growth, for our school's popularity, and the beautiful modern buildings in which 480 pupils and 29 teachers meet daily Mr.Smith received his B.A.Degree from East Texas State Tea- chers College in l93l:E.T.S.C.also presented him his M.A.Degree Mr. Smith is an active member of the local Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge. His favorite pastime is to browse among the shelves of the many libraries in our area.
