This book is dedicated in loving memory of Harold O. Thompson Harold Oscar Thompson, son of Oscar and Grace Thompson, was born November 4, 1921, at Turon, Kansas. He passed away in Wichita, Kansas, September 9, 1979, at the age of 57. While a child at home, his parents pas- tored Friends Churches across Kansas Year- ly Meeting. He came as a sophomore to Friends Haviland Academy and graduated in 1939. Other education degrees were: Ir. College from Friends Bible College in 1941, attended KFBC for more Bible courses in 1941-42, Friends University, 1942-43, A.B. degree from Northwest Nazarene Cossege in 1944, Th. B. degree from Pacific College Know George Foxj in 1945, M. S. in Educa- tion Administration from Fort Hays State College in 1957, and had completed addi- tional hours for Ed. Specialist Degree from Ft. Hays. On June 7, 1942, he married Arlene John- son at Wellsford, Kansas. To this union was born a son, Harold Dean, and a daugh- ter Ellen Eilene. His life was dedicated to serving people both in the ministry and in the education field. He was recorded minister by Kansas Yearly Meeting 119441 and pastored churches at Ridgeview Friends in Oregon, Seattle Memorial Friends in Washington and Maple Friends north of Haviland. In addition to these pastorates, he supply pas- tored numerous churches in the surround- ing area. Harold taught at Greenleaf Academy in Greenleaf, Idaho, from 1945 to 1947, Ridge- view Public School in Oregon, Haviland Academy from 1948 to 1964 QPrincipal and teacherl, Dean of Instruction at FBC from 1964 to 1967, President of FBC of 1967-68. He was Principal of Haviland from 1968 to 1970 and Superintendent of USD 474 at Ha- viland from 1970 until the present time. He served in many various civic organi- zations in several capacities. He was a mem- ber of many professional organizations and a lifetime member of the Friends Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allen, who died in infan- cy. Harold is survived by his wife, Arlene, his children, Dean and wife Sandy of Bed- ford, Texas, and Eilene and husband, Dana Hoffman of Texarkana, Texas, three grand- daughters, Tiffany, Candice, and Valerie, two brothers, Ernest of Phoenix, Arizona, and Everett of Topeka Kansas, a step-moth- er, Mrs Lillian Thompson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
