Page I8 HAVILOOK I952 The following pages were taken from the diary of the old maid Superintendent of Haviland-Scott School, Miss M. L. Dangler, who became famous with the publication of the novel HOW TO MAKE MARRIAGE WORK: 9 June 5, 1973 Dear Diary, While looking over the past record today of the old alumni of school, I ran across some of my former classmates' folders. I immediately wondered what they were do- ing today. So inquiring around, I discov- ered that Dorothy Funk is a Colonel in the Air Force. Of course, that brought to mind how she was always begging her dad to let her join. Was I ever surprised to hear Barbara Brian is playing Jazzy Piano in the Copa Cabana Club in New York! Also on the bill is another one of my former classmates, Le Roy Shaw. He's billed as the Velvet Frog. It is said he is the newest singing sensation of the country. Then I remembered Patty Stoller was bookkeeper for President Laukhuf, who re- ceived the election by a landslide because ofthe tricks he learned in government class. While I'm on the subject of politics, I must not forget Senator Radabaugh of Ohio, The three of them together really keep Wash- ington up to date. Well, diary, since I have some business to attend to, I'll say - Good-Night. Of course I know how interested you must be about my old classmates so l'lI continue tomorrow. June 6, I973 Dear Diary, Well, here I am again with some more news. l'm sure you know about Lyle Stoller, who since he has taken over the Tile Factory has caused the population of Haviland to increase from 222 to 2,222,222. And there is Gene Davis, who has run Standard Oil out of business with his Davis Oil Stations. I think he has over a million. I must say he has prospered. Oh, I almost forgot the new hospital here in Hiviland, famous for its well known dietitian, Janet Mohr. Ethelyn Tarlton and Colleen Keysor have added to the popu- larity of it with their invention of the needleless shot. I can't imagine where they got their inspiration. Rev. Raymond Daniel, Jr. is the pastor of the Methodist church here in Haviland. lt is one of the largest in the country. At the present, it seats over l,OO0,000, but the Reverend still has hopes of increasing it. Well, Diary, another night has rolled around so l'Il close, but I'll try to finish the rest of the facts on my former classmates tomorrow. Good-Night. June 7, I973 Dear Diary, Just got back from having my hair fixed, and who do you think fixed it? No one but Louise Gudakunst. I didn't know she ran a beauty shop, but I guess she doesn't have much time for customers after she finishes with her children. My, I counted 20 while I was there. Diary, do you know why I had my hair fixed? Well, l'Il tell you. I saw George Jenkins and Bob Gunderman. And do you know what?? They are bachelors. They live together on their 500,000 acre farm. Maybe, I, and I hope I can, change their minds about staying bachelors. Well, Diary, last but not least are Eliza- beth Cavinder and Mary Lou Harris. The last I heard of them they were out in Holly- wood and had just married - Lib to the father and Mary Lou to his son. Maybe they could use a copy of my book. I guess that finishes all the gossip I know about my classmates, but, as you see, a number of them have stayed right here in dear old Haviland. GOOD-NIGHT.
