Page 74 HAVILOOK 1951 Class History Back in l939 thirty-three frightened first-graders started their long journey through the Haviland-Scott School. It was quite an experience to begin our school years in the same way as it is to be leaving the teachers, friends, and classrooms which most of us have been acquainted with since that first day. We advanced through the lower grades under the su- pervision of Mrs. Gantt, Miss Bidlack, Mrs. Ptak, and Mr. Jenkins, and found ourselves ready for the seventh and eighth grades, which appeared very interesting. We entered high school as a class of twenty-two. Miss Triplett had the responsibility of being our class advisor. The following officers were elected: Bud Laukhuf, President, Jeanne Griffis, Vice-President, and Lloyd Lehman, Secretary-Treasurer. During our Fresh- man year the main projects of the class were running the candy stand at home basketball games and skating parties. As a Sophomore class of twenty-one members, we had Rex Scarbrough for our advisor and Gerald Laukhuf, President. John Market was Vice-President, and Harold Wenninger, Sec- retary-Treasurer. The year passed rapidly, and before we knew it, we were registered as Juniors and facing the problem of raising money for a class trip, Our goal, which we reached, was to take both Junior and Senior classes to New York City. We raised our money by bake sales, selling greeting cards, being in charge of the candy stand, and by presenting our class play, Love is Too Much Trouble. Those in charge who helped us to accomplish this were: Miss Daubert, class advisor, Gerald Laukhuf, President, Bud Laukhuf, Vice-President, and I-larold Wenninger as Secretary-Treasurer. This was an enjoyable year for all of us, and the following year was to prove the same. As Seniors, we entered into our busiest year of school. Miss Daubert was our class ad- visor during this eventful year. We decided to edit this HAVILOOK, an experience which has indeed been interesting. Mr. Ensign's helpful assistance has been very beneficial to us in this task. With the presentation of our class play, New Fires , followed by Baccalaureate and Commencement, we realized that the last year of our high school days was drawing to a close. These school years have been enjoyed by all of us, and we know that the time which we have spent at our school will help us face the problems that we will meet in future days.
