Page l8 HAVILOOK 1950 History How time does fly! lt seems as if it were only yesterday that we were freshmen looking forward to our Senior year. In our freshman year, we chose the following officers: Mr. Coffelt, advisor, Erma Lehman, president, Art Carter, vice-president, Laura Dene Williamson, secretary, Carrie l-lartwig, treasurer. That year we had fifteen members. We asked Mrs. Ensign to guide us through our Sophomore year. She accepted and we chose Ray Sinn for president, Fred l-lartwig for vice- president, and Erma Lehman for secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Ensign agreed to be our sponsor again in our Junior year, This was a big year for us with the Junior Class Play, the Junior-Senior Trip, and many other events. Ray Sinn was again our president. Carrie Harwig was vice-president, and Erma Lehman was secretary-treasurer. Our Senior year was an even more important year. Besides this being our last year with all the Senior activities, we decided to publish an annual. This year our class consisted of nine members. Our spon- ser for the Senior year was Mrs. Ensign with Ray Sinn as president, Emma Lou Vance as vice president, and Mary Lou Akom as secretary-treasurer. l950 HAVILOOK Page lf Class Prophecy While reclining in my easy chair after supper fmy daily habitl, I decide to read my favorite daily paper, the Haviland Chronicle . A name in the headlines looks familiar. Then, I recall my classmates of fitteen years ago at dear old Haviland-Scott. The name is Fred tDrew Pearsonl Hartwig. He is predicting that Ray Sinn will be fired as Secretary of State because Ray refuses to support long skirts, the newest thing in fashion. Doyle Breedlove and his helper Einstein have received another medal. This time, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for having averted war with Russia. He promoted the marriage of the new Premier of Russia and Marcia Sperry, the first woman Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. She is rapidly converting him to the American way of life. As l turn to the society page, I see that the celebrated soprano, Laura Dene Williamson, is giving a concert to honor the King and Queen of England. fFor those who are interested, the life story and why Laura Dene chose career before marriage will be in the next publication of Life.l Mary Lou Akom has done it again! The whole sports page is devoted to her. She has won the women's singles championship for the fourth straight year. lt comes as no surprise as l remember her great athletic ability at Haviland-Scott. Emma Lou Vance is involved in a big case before the Supreme Court. Famous resorts claim that she is violating the Anti-trust laws and is ruining their business. Emma Lou has invented a sun tan fluid from reindeer hoofs. By using this, a sun tan may be prepared by merely rubbing it on. Emma Lou gets the hoofs from her 3,000 acre Reindeer Ranch in the Antarctic. Erma Lehman is now curator of a zoo. She is teaching school ot HAVI- LAND-SCOTT. lf she does as well running the zoo as she did as a member ofthe zoo, the position will be secure. l must retire now and get my alloted hours of sleep. l am in very rigid training to keep my position with the Yankees. Water boys are not in great demand and l, Art, the water carrier, have very tough competition.
