1949 HAVILOOK Page9 CLASS PROPHECY Haviland, Ohio Iune 13, 1956 My Dear Aunt Haviscott, Iva Lou Cwens was just here for a short visit. She could only stay a little while, since she is the secretary for her husband's furniture company. Last year she figured her husband's income tax to be S5,000,000.02. The government re- turned the two cents, because she had made a slight error. Little Erve has had the colic and chicken sneeze. I'm sure you remember Tootiep she used to be Iva Lou Laukhuf, and they are making out nicely. Ruth Foust tKimmeyl and Patty Rhoad CGrohD are living in Ft. New York in an apartment house. Patty keeps the children while Ruth works. They both live a simple life: going to the theatre once a week, attending the Women's Society, for all Ambassadors' wives, the Temperance Society, the 75 Bridge Club, and the Sewing Sisters of America. Oh, yes! I just received a telegram yesterday from Gerry Rider. She has been working and taking voice lessons. Next Tuesday is her opening night on Broadway. I am so happy for her because she has sacrificed so much for her career: three definite proposals and two probables from her stage managers. I have been cleaning house lately and have neglected going to the store. There is hardly anything to eat in the house. I trade at the Murphy-Murphy Co. store at Scott. He specializes in fancily decorated carrots and carrier pigeons. Bill has taken over the business since his partner went bankrupt back in 1950. He has been so interested in his business that he hasn't had time for marriage, it seems. Dale Yoh is president of the Scott Equity Exchange, now. Business has been picking up in the last few years. Dale has two little boys, who are the sweetest things. They are being taught trigonometry at the age of four, by Dale. It seems they wrecked his Cadillac last week, so Dale says that some mathematics might help them to figure safe passing distances. Ilo Belle Hofacker is head nurse of our new Memorial Hospital, which she succeeded in having her fiance finance. He is one of the head doctors and also one of the best in the hospital. The hospital itself covers two acres out in the restricted area of Haviland. Ilo reports that they have lost only one patient, a black Cocker spaniel. Evaleen and Leah rent a house near by. No, Evaleen never married. She proposed twice, the first time being accepted, but her intended had an acci- dent two days before the wedding. Leah has a new position as Mr. Stoller's personal secretary at Haviland Clay Works, Inc. Last year she won state honors in a typing contest, typing 205 words per minute. Well, Aunt Haviscott, Ioan Carter CLaukhufl is now married, and her hus- band poses as the thin man at the circus. Their two children now attend the University of Haviland-Scott where Miss Daubert was finally promoted to the professorship. Bye for now, All my love, Your niece, Seniortot

To the faculty we leave most of the books they gave us at the first of the year and hope they find the rest. We also wish to thank them for the guidance they have shown during the twelve years most of us have attended Haviland- Scott School. When we, the class of forty-nine, started on our four years' journey through high school, we looked forward thinking that Seniorhood looked very far away. Our first year we chose Miss Shawley as our advisor and our enrollment was thirteen. The next three years, Miss Daubert was elected, who proved to be a very capable friend. We've made it, though, losing a few classmates along the way. Here we are, Seniors, with an enrollment often. Our officers are: Leah Williamson-President: Evaleen Shaw-Vice President: Dale Yoh-Secretary and Treasurer.
