Page130 HAVILOOK 1948 1947-48 BASKETBALL SEASUN IN REVIEW Nov. 10-The first game of the season, and Haviland-Scott started off strong by beating Union 74-18. The reserves lost 22 to 30. Nov. 14-Another high scoring win for the Varsity over the Grover Hill Hornets-50 to 15. The Little Cats lost 14 to 18. Nov. 21-On the Antwerp court we played a hard and close game, coming out on top 42-32. The reserves came close, but lost 31-32. Nov. 25-The Wildcats traveled to Rockford to meet their first defeat. The Varsity score was 33 to 41. The reserves also lost 10-37. Dec. 5-The Boys took Oakwood by 16 points on the home floor. Varsity score-56-40. The reserves came through with a 20 to 18 victory. Dec. 12-The Payne Panthers came to Haviland to meet the Wildcats. The Varsity score was 54 to 41-just another victory. The Kittens lost 24 to 28. Dec. 19-The Wildcats traveled to Latty to take a close decision over the Lions. The Varsity score, 27 to 23. The Cubs beat the Little Cats, 19 to 36. Ian. 2-The Cats started the New Year right by romping to a 34 point lead on Grover Hill's floor-54 to 20. The Reserves lost 29-21. Ian. 9-Antwerp came over to meet Haviland and defeat. The score was 47 to 34. The reserves lost 21 to 29. Ian. 16-The Wildcats prowled to Payne to meet the Panthers. The Cats were hitting, and took both games. Varsity score 62 to 18. Reserve score 28 to 24. Ian. 23-The Cats rolled into Oakwood for their ninth straight league Win 50 to 33. The Kittens lost 29 to 34. Ian. 30-Latty came down for a tense, close game, losing by one point. 44 to 43. The Kittens lost 19 to 38. Feb. 3-Hoaglin-Iackson provided the players with the tightest game of the season. The Wildcats were trailing three points with less than 10 seconds to play when swish, swish, and swish, they finished the game with a two point lead-42 to 40. The reserves lost 16 to 31. Feb. 6-At Paulding the Panthers tripped the Wildcats with the same score Rockford usedH33 to 41. The Reserves lost a close one 25 to 27.
