Page26 I-IAVILOOK 948 CHAMP February Zlst, l948, will go down in the annals of basket- ball history as far as all true Wildcat fans are concerned. Haviland walked off with the Paulding County Tournament Trophy, the League Championship Trophy, the School Sports- manship Trophy, and Tom Myers was awarded the Parker Individual Sportsmanship Trophy. A few days later it was an- nounced that all of Haviland's first five had made the All County First Ten. The Wildcat quintet Went on to Celina still in a vic- torious mood. They outplayed and outscored Willshire in their first game, and Went into their second game with Rockford determined that they would not suffer defeat from Rockford again. That determination carried them into the semi-finals, and earned them the name The Giant Killers. St. Rose was their third opponent, and to the bitter disappointment of the team and the fans, their last one. St. Rose won the tilt by one point, scoring 4 points in the last 7 seconds of play, to end the official court season for Haviland. This did not end the honors for the Varsity though, for Carl Sinn Won a place on the First Five Sectional Tournament team. Congratulations to a wonderful team.
