H 1 Y ' 1 1 ' W' I L 0 0 It pasf an pfzesenf YcsterdayfFresh1ncn: todayfSeniors: tomorrowfAlumnifso seems the cycle of our school life. How the time does fly! Wheii the dear Class of '46 started its great career as Freshmen in 1942, it seemed to us that we were very insignificant to our upper classmen and almost as though it was impossible that we could ever become the sophisticated Seniors. For our adviser, we chose Miss Burner, who was very capable, and if we dare say, a lot of fun. The class was composed of Robert Hough, Presg Marie Titler, See.fTreas.1 Barbara Shcrer, VicefPres.g l.ela lvlac Rodman, Chester Funk. Elaine Hebb. Vxlcslcv Zartman. Mentra Beech, Irene Sacco, Richard Gerber, Sharon Gantt, LaVerna Gantt and Geneva Decker. As we passed from Freshmen to Sophomores, we began to feel the glory of bc' ing the older elassmen and established for ourselves a place in the Haviland High. Mr. Ayers took the terrible risk of accepting the job of being our adviser but did a very neat job. He helped us a great deal by guiding over us at basketball games, parties and other social functions. For our other officers, we chose Elaine Hebb as President and Mentra Beech as Sec'yfTreas. lt seemed as though that good soil looked better to Dick Gerber and Wesley Zartman than the dear school teachers and text books because we lost them during this second year. Irene Sacco also left our forces to go to Paulding High. Chester Funk decided that his father just couldn't get along without him so he retired from school life to take up the blacksmith trade. During this same year, we welcomed Wilnaa Kauser into our class, who came from the Latty School. This left us a total of ten members to start out on our Junior Year. Now, we were next best to Seniors, we thought as we entered our junior year. This was the year that we began doing things. We inherited the candy stand from the former Iunior Class, had our big Iunior Class Play. and took Seniors on a trip to Toledo. For our busy year, Mr. Ayers again advised us and what a very capable and kindly adviser he was. l'm sure that our class will never forget the wonderful guidance in both our school and our spiritual life that Mr. Ayers and his wife gave to us during those two years. All our class remained faithful and cooperative during the year and we selected Geneva Decker for President and Marie Titler for Sec'y-Treas, Now, we are coming in home. As we became Seniors, we took the responsibility of editing this HAVILOOK, giving the Senior Class Play Brother Goose and the other activities that we as Seniors enjoy. Mr. Ensign has been very instructive to us on compiling and printing our Annual and Mrs. Ensign has been very kind in helping us with our play and other class problems. Elaine Hebb was elected President, Sharon Gantt, Sec'yfTreas., LaVerna Gantt, VicefPres. and Marie Titler, H.HXVILOOK Editor. It seemed as though married life looked pretty good to one of our classmates because we lost Lela Mae Rodman during the year. As we nine Seniors of '46 come to the Baccalaureate and Commencement season, we cannot help but feel a bit sad to think of giving up all of these pleasures and companionships, but we also realize that we cannot hang on to the past but must reach out into the future so we lay down our title as Seniors and become the Freshmen Alumni. eniofzs on paw e NAME Birthday FHV?gtEElaCe Favorite Food Classification Barbara Sherer April 23 Roller Skating Pearl Tapioca Nurse Oldest Elaine Hebb November 17 Ohio State Pot Pie Secretary Ablest F, B.
