Predictions of Things To Come The purple mist of the evening was falling softly when I circled my plane low over New York, leaving behind me, in Europe, Lester Shcrer, a newspaper reporter, witnessing the execution of Hitler. Eaintly I remember also Betty Hofackcr, the matron of a large orphanage, who has thousands of war children under her care with Chuck, her husband, assisting her. As I step from the plane, I see the famous metropolitan opera singer, Annabelle Cavindcr, with her leading man, Warreii Cadwallader, who is to sing in the famous opera, Romeo and Juliet. As I relax in the most famous hotel in New York with a paper in my hand, I see an old school chum, Earl Yoh, who has published a book entitled L'Thc Bloody Mess, from the Battle of Vicksburg. Journeying on I meet Mary Ella Laukhuf in Vxfashington, who is now the President's private secretary, and she tells me that Delmar Stoller is now owner of a great chicken ranch near Latty. A.s I fly low over thc city of Berne, Indiana, I sec a large sign which says, Come in and Buy That SupcrfDuper Bigger and Better Eurniture f--owners, jim L. Adams and Son. Roy Cvrecn, who was so fond of guns in his youth, is now in Iowa teaching the WAACS how to shoot. Cn my last stop, I see Margaruitc Smith in Hollywood approaching me, and telling me of her appearance in the 'Ziegficld Follies of 1953 as the famous tap dancer of the day. Now, as I enter the streets of my home town, I hear on the lips of my friends the name of Dr. East. They are talking about his great invention, Instead of hooking bombs up to the spark plugs, he now has an invention to explode them with a lever. Now the mist is rising and I hnd myself sitting in front of the fire wondering if the class of '43 will ever get together again and enjoy the great friendship they once had. We Bequeath As we come to the end of our high school career, we find ourselves with a sound and disposing mind, do hereby make this our last will and testament: First: To the juniors we leave our unsolved problems and the name of Seniors, according to custom. Second: To the Sophomores we leave our wisdom, and good manners. C1-ii1lTdf To the Ereshmen, we leave our dignity and ability to match pennies in study hall. fWe make good moneyj SPECIAL- Charles East leaves his band piece, Anchors Aweigh, to Betty Goble. It seems she lost hers. Warreii Cadwallader wills his music ability to Bill Hooker. Maggie Smith leaves her ability to say anything at any time to Cpal Ladd. Earl Yoh leaves his way with the women to Wayne Zielke. Delmar Stoller leaves his quiet ways to Jack Rogers. Lester Sherer wills his great basket ball ability to Ed. Pfost. jim leaves his curls to Kent Pond. fTake 'em Kent their women killers., Thelma leaves her ability to argue in Amercan History to Vernabel Murphy. fYou do all right in Bookkeeping, Murphyj Mary Ella leaves her ability to study hard to who ever wants it. fKeep to the right and don't push-someone might get hurt., Roy Green leaves his meek lowly spirit to Clara, Pete Yoh. Annabelle leaves her ability to bluff teachers to Vera Williams. Betty Hofacker leaves her ready smile and friendly manner to june Rhodus. The Seniors of the shorthand class leave their books to anyone crazy enough to take them. A couple of Senior boys will their luck in skipping the sixth period of school to who ever can get away with it. 17
