ALOYSIUS J. LYNCH Superintendent of Schools Haverstraw-Stony Point District Mr. A. J. Lynch, our School Superintendent, has spent his boyhood and the major part of his adult life in Haverstraw. His family owned a brickyard in which he worked for a time, a typical experience of that period when Haverstraw was known far and wide for its brick industry. After graduating from St. Peter's Elementary School and, in 1920 from Haverstraw High School, he en- tered Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Here his first two years were devoted to studying Latin, Greek, and English. He studied philosophy in his iunior and senior years. Mr. Lynch graduated from Holy Cross in 1924 with an A.B. degree, followed by graduate work at Fordham University and New York University. In 1929 Mr. Lynch was appointed to the Jamaica Normal School, where he taught science and coached basketball and baseball. He gained further teaching experience at John Adams and William Cullen Bryant High Schools in New York City. In his leisure hours, Mr. Lynch enioys gardening, coin collecting, wood working, and swimming. He lives with his wife and daughter Deborah on Hudson Avenue. Another daughter, Barbara, has been mar- ried for two years. Deborah is a member of the Haverstraw-Stony Point Class of 1960.

JOSEPH RINGERS Assistant Superintendent of Schools Joseph Ringers, our Assistant Superintendent of Schools, first came to Haverstraw as a high school teacher. He be- came Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent in 1953, and rose to his present iob in 1957 with the inception of the centralized school district. He attended: New Jersey State College, Montclair and Paterson, New York University, Rutgers University, and the University of Alabama. He served tor three and a half years in the Medical Administrative Corps of the U. S. Army. Mr. Ringers is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the Na- tional Honor Society of Education, and Pi Omega Pi, the National Honor Society of Business Educators. In his spare time, Mr. Ringers enjoys travel, pho- tography, and is especially interested in club work, being an active member of the Lion's Club and Chamber of Com- merce.
