Mr. One hundred years ago Liszt composed Les Preludes a symphonic poem which expressed musically the idea that Life with its moments of peace and serenity storm and struggle is merely a prelude to an unknown future How symbolic this is for us graduates of 1954' Our musical score four years in production is now complete We have rehearsed many hours for our final performance together our grad have blended together like the instruments of a great orchestra under inspired leadership We have experienced the happiness and serenity of good companionship of books of tasks well done We have enloyed many light and capricious moments together too amid an occasional discordant note Many of our classmates fruends and brothers have already respond ed to the trumpet call of our country and that is a sobering thought for us for many years to come So we the Class of 1954 dedicate The Thinker to the harmonic unity of our musical masterpiece our four years together May it be the Prelude to a great future for us as individuals and the country and world society In which we will now take part 4 , nina ' V Q U l , ' Il ll ' I I I I I ' uation.
