Standing: Hepburn, Morgan, Nickle, Hyland, C. Classen, H. Bartle, Carter, Roever, Mr. Byerly. Sitting: Sloan, Krickl. Please, everybody! Make this the largest, most in- teresting, most informative yearbook that has ever been produced! This was the order that we of the Haligoluk Staff of 1958 had to fulfill. When we discovered the enormous task of making a second-grader's interest and enthusi- asm equivalent to a senior's expectation of a yearbook to treasure throughout life, we were appalled by the immensity of our undertaking, Nevertheless, the staff has risen to this challenge with a vigor and an enthusi- asm that has seldom been seen in our school's history. Although publishing a yearbook lacks the flamboy- ance of the Big Red marching down the football field to paydirt, or the dramatic impact of a scene in a play which brings the house down, it requires fully as much effort and ingenuity. What originality and flair this book attained cannot be credited to any circumstance or person, for it emerged as a composite of the gigantic effort of the entire staff, guided-and goaded-by the tireless edi- tor-in-chief Van Sloan. Many a sacrificial hour has passed in changing the position of a picture on a page, in polishing a phrase, in taking and printing pic- tures, and in assembling the verbal and pictorial ideas 4 with as much originality as convention would allow. The evidence of our labors may be found on this and every page of the book, and only you can measure our success. We of the Haligoluk of 1958 feel that we have put our missile into orbit. EDITOR-IN-CHIEF SLOAN
