Social Studies This year the Social Studies Department was headed by Mr. Samir Kassees. All sophomores took the required World Cultures course, which dealt with concepts of cultures and Western civilizations. Tenth graders were also ex- posed to a several week study of comparative religions. The juniors were required to take American History, a course which dealt with America's politi- cal and foreign relations, social reforms and economics. Electives were also offered to enable students to further their knowledge in different social stud- ies fields. Mathematics Mathmatics is a challenging subject today. Mr. Robert LoFurno and his department have done an admirable job of keeping students up to date in the math field. A majority of students continue their mathematics courses right through their senior year, though only one year of math is required. There are many interesting and challenging courses given to all grade levels including Computer Concepts, Industrial Math and others. There are also accelerated courses for the advanced students.
