m ay . if N , AA.A ,. f THE TEERI G HEEL .... John W. Walker Univ. of Penna., A.M. As Principal, Mr. Walker has the responsibil- ity of supervision over all teachers and other employees of the school. He is responsible, too, for the continuance of good public relations through frequent contacts with parents and community groups. His main concern, however, is his students. By the employment of more effective teaching methods in the classroom and by continual improvement of the extra- curricular program, Mr. Walker feels that a student has every opportunity to mature both academically and socially while at Haverford. Glad to be back at school after a short leave of absence at the beginning of the school year, Mr. Walker affirms that his job as principal is very satisfying and challenging. Mr. Stinson's vital character was more evi- dent this year with the absence of Mr. Walker. It Was his duty, as assistant principal, to con- tinue his own work as well as assume the re- sponsibilities of principal. Normally his position entails assisting Mr. Walker and supervising the boys' attendance William B. Dean of Boys The guidance of Haverford students is quite aptly handled by Mr. Hill, Dean of Boys, and Miss Houchens, Dean of Girls. Serving in a friendly capacity, they are always willing to give vocational help and college information. They plan schedules to further aid students as well as arrange meetings with parents to discuss testing programs and problems. The administrative body of Haverford is complemented by Mr. Brown, who assists the principal. Handling routine questions, arranging for substitute teachers when necessary, and super- vising the parking facilities of the school constitute some of the many aspects of his position. Mr. Brown assists Mr. Hill with tenth and eleventh grade boys' guidance and acts as a medium between outside organizations and the school. Certainly We will never fail to appreciate the help and under- standing received from these able administrative assistants. E. Steele Houchens Univ. of Penna., M.S.
