Til 4» II 'ow HAVERFORD HIGH SCHOOL . . . 191J 9 :t Nineteen forty-eight is rich in anniversaries for Haverford High School, as it marks the fortieth anniversary since the first class was graduated from our institution as a two year high school; the thirty-fifth since the first class was graduated from the four year high school; and the twenty-fifth since the first processional from our present building, Greystones. The history of Haverford High School begins back in 1906, when a two year high school was organized at Llanerch with Mr. William Leavitt as sole teacher. Two years later the first class held commencement exercises. At this time Mr Joseph Huff came to Haverford Township High School as supervising principal, and, for two years, its only teacher. The following years of his life he dedicated to developing the schools of the Township, until his death in 1927. In 1910 the school was located at Chestnutwold and was extended to a three year high school. Two years later the school w-as again moved, and at Oakmont became a four year high school, from which the first class graduated in 1913. In 1923 the first senior class, composed of only twenty-seven pupils, graduated from the present building. Miss Comog and Miss Stewart are the only faculty members who have observed these twenty-five years of continual growth of Haverford High School. 9 4 it HAVERFORD SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL . . . 1948
