nr ' i No ' is there much concern on the island with the ends of education, as is right, proper and cus- tomary among us, . nd though I ween that much of this is noised abroad by a small group, yet have I always found a serious and sincere attention to all the problems and concerns of the isle, and despite a surface c nicism that is a mannerism com- mon to many and almost laughable insofar as its appearance in a conversation is so predictable, most of the islanders share a keen intelligence and deep sense of morality. 10
