'f' M Division is the largest division on board and is responsible for HAVER- FIELD's main propulsion and auxiliary machinery. The division is composed of Enginemen, Boilermen Machinist' Mates, and Firemen. 7 The Enginemen maintain HAVERFIELD's four main diesel engines, three ship's service generators, and the ship's auxiliary machinery such as the air condition- ing and refrigeration sys- tem. The Boilermen service the two auxiliary boilers which supply the galley and laun- dry With steam and the rest of the ship with hot water. Machinist Mates main- tain the ship's fresh water plant, or evaporators, and help with the air condition- ing and refrigeration sys- tems. FN Paul Whitehouse agrees that no engine- room is complete without one.
