Senior Trip .W 5 The Senior Class of the Havelock-Plover Cummunity School and four chaperones started out for Kansas City, Missouri, at twelve o'clock midnight on the thirteenth of may fgr the annual senior skip day. Our chaperones were Sup't. Mclntosh, Mrs. Mclntosh, Hrs. Burgardt, and Mrs. Garlock. We traveled in a chartered bus fron1Fort Dodge. we arrived on the outskirts of kansas City about seven o'clock in the morning alter a not-so-restful night. We d1dn't find our hotel, the Kansas Citian, until alnost nine o'clock, so most of us went without breakfast. We were at the Board of Trade at nine-thirty for our first tour. Here, we saw a film and then went to the floor and Uyitn where the actual transactions were carried on. we found this tour interexting but baffling, because most of us had very little knowledge of the stock marxot. Thursday afternoon we visited the General Hotors Assembly plant. Here we w' chad the workers put together a car from start to flnish. The only part about this tour we didn't like was all that WALKING, the ground floor of the plant cover- ed over forty acres. Thursday evening we out on our HSunday bestu and went out for dinner. We ate at HThe Trail House,H one of the better restaurants in Kansas City. He liked the service, food and atmosphere, but not the size of the chock! After dinner we went to Cinerama and Saw HSouth 5eal5 Adventuren--or rather some of us Saw it, some of us slept through most of it, and one of us even walked in our sleep. After Cinerane we went to the hotel to get a good night'S rest. Some of us succeeded in attaining the goal set by our chaperones, but a few of us failed mis- orably. Friday morning we toured the Federal Reserve Bank. Most of us liked this tour the best, although all of them were fun, as well as educational. Friday afternoon we were to tour the Palmolivc Plant, but we got lost trying to find it, so we tour- ed the airport instead. lt wasn't long before we had to bid farewell to Kansas City and pile back into our trusty bus for the trek home. Supper found us in Clarinda. We finally got home about midnight Friday. We were twenty-eight happy, rumpled and tired Seniors- to say nothing of the chaperones. 26
