CLASS PROPHECY In the year 1968 we decided to go back to the small town of Hope, Indiana, and visit our old friends. Upon arrival we found that many things had changed and that Hope was now a large industrial city. As we drove down the main boulevard, we unconsciously ran a red stop light; immediately a motorcycle cop pulled us over to the curb. As he approached the car, we could see the officer was none other than our old friend Bill Ponder. Bill, doing his duty, took us into court where we were surprised again as we appreared before Judge Allen Linke! After paying our fine, we found that Allen was not the only government official from the class of '58. Jim Johnson was now the mayor of the city while Bob McClain was County Agricultural Agent and Joe Stitt ran the research laboratory at Purdue University. Taking a ride around town we decided to stop in for a visit with John Glick and Jeanne Flora who were then happily married. John was coaching the Hauser Jets who had woo the state championship for the past three years. Jeanne was writing a lovelorn column for the New York TinKS. They began to tell us of their other classmates. Larry Thayer and Bill Berkenstock were driving race cars at the Indianapolis Speedway. We weren't surprised :o learn that Audrey Critzer was president of the National Elvis Presley Fan Club, while Barbara Gabriel had the coveted job of being Elvis' traveling secretary. • Georgia Stewart was modeling sweaters in Macy's Department Store. They said that the face on television we had thought looked familiar really was Haroid Johnson’s advertising LAM cigarettes. The Glick's gave us the address of Hannibal Frazier-Bey who was a world-renowned artist. His studio was out in the elite Clifford sectica of the city. Hannibal recently painted a portrait of the president that hangs in the New York art gallery. Since he -- ■ just returned from Los Angeles. California, he told us of his visit with Professor Andrew Galbraith and his wife, the former Linda Nading. at UCLA. There they attended the premier performance of a new mocioa picture, I was a Teenage Grave-Soccer. starring Mickey Herron. We were extremely proud to hear of another actor in the class, Keith Coy. who now was appearing m a new TV senes as secretarv to John Baresrord Tipton in The FencvLess Sum. Hannibal bad i recently stepped off a: Tombstone. Arizona. :c see Sheriff Wiliam Spang- Sill arc Tern -lull j were batching together. Tom was caretaker of rhe Tombstone cemetery and museum. Oeca-t siooailv Larrv Stone flew over from Tisnevlane where be runs the Fauras?lane area fearmzg the I Tunnel of Love. I Driving back to rhe business district we passec a dressmaking salon. The names over the entrance intormec us that Ellen McClain and Marguerite Tempest were the zesigners. Since touring the town had diminished our gas supply, we stop pec a: a modem service scant motel and were greeted bv Lcrea Wood and 3eb Pose.  Apple Blossom Time was the theme for the 1957 Prom held April 27 at the Hope gym. Pink and silver crepe paper and pink apple blossoms were decorations and Bob Herron's band provided dance music. The junior class chose Joann Dodd and Kenny Bense to reign as king and queen. CLIFFORD CLASS TRIP The Clifford juniors and seniors traveled i Washington D.C. and New York in May 357. Approximately 19 of them boarded the O Railroad for their six day trip. And away we go!

As we entered the station that wild hit I’ll Cry For You by Joe (Vaughn) Monroe was playing on the jukebox. A large portly gentleman came in and bought a box of 50tf cigars. We recognized him as none other than Robert Johnson, President of the First National Bank of Hope. From Bob we learned that Ruth Ann McClean was head nurse of Hauser Memorial Hospital. Another classmate, Margie Andrews, was now protector of the boy's locker room at Madison Square Garden. This was only a sideline, however, when she wasn't in a Broadway show. Our only sad note during the visit was hearing that Susie Duling had taken one of the first rockets to the moon and never had returned. As we left the city, we knew that the class of 1958 was making its mark in the world. Signed, fryy TTjc CSL +-0Y ijbrvcv JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM On the night of May 10th, the Juniors and Seniors and their dates danced in an atmosphere of fair Hawaii at the gymnasium. The familiar surroundings were lost as the room took on the MOONLIGHT IN HAWAII air. Palm trees, sandy beaches, and a magic moon blended with the music of Brud Bruning and his combo. The dance lasted from 8:00 until 11:30. King Bill Berpenstock and Queer, Mickey Herron reigned over the Island: as their classmates cheered. The royal couple was chosen by tie junior . Other senior candidates were John Click, Bofc fcose, and Larry Thayer for King and Jeanne Flora, Margaret Andrews. and h.ite Iteling for Queen.
