f' x-W Beauties On Campus , fr It's hard to imagine seventy-two beautiful girls in one place at the same time and, not to mention, all in formals! Well, if you attended the 1982 H.H.S. beauty pa eant, you saw 'ust that. The jud es, Donaid Aytch, Bobby Christy, Jane Piillips, Bobby Waddell, and Linda Stautzenberger, found the narrowing L down to Maria Benten, Kelli Collins, Kim , Crone, Susie Crow, Dana Diehl, Minette Far- rar, Belinda Gilbert, Susan Gullatt, Stacy Heard, Vicki Herron, Tra- cie Hooper, Lisa McCormick, Cindy Melancon, D'Ette Melancon, Dawn Mielnicki, Leanne Miller, Gwen Moseley, Cheryl Nagy, Cin- dy Self, Wada Strogen, Kerry Teacle, Kayla Turner, Julie Watson, and Diane Williams the excitement had just begun. Being among the top twenty-five finialists for them meant an invitation to a luncheon that following weekend where an individual three minute interview would be conducted. Added to that nerve racking exper- ience was also the return to the second half of the pageant. It was then the to ten would be announced and asked a final question. This time, lgowever, the impromptu answer must be given in front of the large, dark audience who eyes are starin questionably at you as you stand in the spot light alone at the sin Fe microphone! These lucky girls included: Maria Benten, Kelli Colfins, Dana Diehl, Tra- cie Hooper, Cindy Melancon, Leanne Miller, Cheryl Nagy, Cindy Self, Wanda Strogen, and Julie Watson. Barbara Anderson, Haughton's own on-the-spot mistress of ceremo- nies, next announced the Rainbow Princess and her court. Last year's beauty queen, Betsy Tillman, assed down the crown to Maria Benten before the new Princess mage her reigning walk. The court, being congratulated by Scott McCormick, president of the Student Council, was as follows: fourth runner-up, Tracie Hooperp third runner-up, Wanda Strogen, second runner-up, Julie Watson, first runner-up, Leanne Miller.
