DONALD W1i.i.ou:Hm' Ml: President, I make a motion that we collect paper some day this month to increase our revenue. l second it! Now that it has been passed when shall we execute the motion? VVednesday? Now we need someone to collect it. Good, l'm glad to see so many volunteers. With that, the junior class set out on an elongated program bent on increasing their treasury. Next year they'll be seniors and will need money for many activities including the Vllashmgton trip. Mr. Gerald Kriebel, the class adviser, sat on the side lines and merely saw to it that the class was run according to Hoyle. ln addition to collecting paper this group endeavored to satisfy the wants of the sweet teeth in town by sponsoring ple, cake and candy sales. In line with this objective they also went on an haster egg selling spree thus satisfying the townsfolk by supplying them with candy and themselves by boosting their treasury. Ifndeavoring to clean up the town, the juniors engaged in selling towels. Everyone needs a towel , they thought, and capitalized on the idea. Vlihen the high school reconvened last September, many ofthe junior high girls expressed their desire for a club where they would have the opportunity to help and get acquainted with children their own age from other locales. children less fortunate than they, in hospitals and in war torn countries. Vliith Miss Margaret Shaw, school nurse, as director. the Junior Red Cross Club was organized with these views as their guiding lantern. The club, because of its newness, struggled through the first semester getting a footing. However, this slow start did not diminish their enthusiasm. It met Tuesdays and Thursdays. has sent packages overseas, made scrapbooks which were presented to children's hospitals, made place mats for wounded veterans ofValley Forge Military Hospital, and had as their speaker Mrs. ,lane Reichly, Chariman of-lunior Red Cross in this district. The group meeting on Thursday had the honor of presenting their place mats in person and entertaining the men of the hospital. In league competition the young Hatters faired well, taking 4 out of 7 games. Non-league and league games totaled 15. Hatfield grabbed 6 of these. Co-Captains Jerry Moyer sparked the team both in scoring and fine play. jerry was responsible for 113 points this year. Helping out were team mates Frank ,lavorka and Harry VVurster who had 108 and 103 points each respectively. The boys played splendid basketball under their new coach, Mr. Golazeski.
