Some of the Freshmen were strangers to others for we had come from schools at Derry, Garfield, Salem, Rincon and Hatch. We combined forces to struggle through four years of high school and to take advantage of knowing lots about what is contained between Algebra, History, Science, ets., book covers. We walked into our first class meeting with our knees knocking like castanets. To add to our confussion we found out that we were to go through the horrible experience of being initiated by the Sophomores before we could become full pledged high school students. Freshmen girls in short. dresses, men's shoes, with no makeup, straight hair and carry- ing dollsg boys in still shorter dresses, curled hair, lots of make-up and women's shoesg and both girls and boys having strings of onions around their necks was the initiation that we had. The next year we docked at the Isle of .Cruelty, so called because the Sophomores al- ways initiate the unfortunate Freshmen. Let us say here and now that as in Bibical times a pestilence, the love bug was among the multitude. Several girls were taken with this disease and left our ranks. After two hectic years of both work and play we landed on the Isle of Toil. We had gained enough confidence as we walked through the portals of intelligence that we present- ed a successful play and our junior-Senior Prom was the greatest success of our high school career. Our last stop was at the Isle of Wise Fools, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The crew now numbered thirty six with only the strongest surviving as is usually the case. We are sponsoring this school annual to preserve the memories of this class and our classmates through the following years. SIGNED: THE SENIOR CLASS OF '50 E 5 Q PY Q 5 fi W bs E .
