Q RELAX — FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde was presented by the Drama Club of HHS on November 21 and 22, 1986. The production was directed by Mary Martha Melendy and student direc- tor, Abby Forbes. The characters: Lane, Algernon, Earnest, Lady Bracknell, Gwendolyn, Cecily, Miss Prism, Dr. Chausible, and Miss Merriman were played by: Todd Scheck, Stephen Laubaugh, Sean Lester, Michelle Freridge, Janelle Hoekstra, Michelle Melendy, Debra Tiglas, Tom Devault, and Amy Bancroft respectively. This play “one of the English stage’s finest comedies” as one critic described it, was truly a difficult play to put on. The Drama Club did an excellent job with it. Algernon and Earnest who later are presented as Earnest and Jack respectively. I am afraid Aunt Augusta. I shall have to give up the pleasure of dining with you tonight after all.” Algernon pro- ceeds to worm his way out of the dinner engagement with his family. Mr. Earnest Worthing (Sean Lester) and Algernon Mon- crief (Steve Laubaugh) rise to greet Algernon's aunt. Lady Bracknell (Michelle Freridge) and her daughter.
