Twenty-seven area high schools participated in the Tenth Annual Business Olympics sponsored by Argubright Business College of Battle Creek. The skills in which the students were tested included spelling, typing, business machines, accounting, and data processing. Clay Brehn took third place in Business Math. Thormundssen, Kevin Purgiel, Jon Gergen, Todd Archer, and Chad Zimmerman. “The HHS Downhill Ski Club gives students yet another vehicle for maintaining building physical and emotional health through a healthful and challenging activity,” says advisor Kurt Schaaf. Activities may include the follow- ing: week night ski trips to local ski resorts, over- night weekend ski trips, building HHSDSC display case(s), pizza parties, ski film viewing, and spon- soring a dance (Jan. 9, 1987). Unfortunately, the snow did not cooperate this season at all but that did not dampen the HHS spirit for the Downhill Ski Club. The HHS French Club meets in room D203 under the supervision of advisor James Oliver. They go to Quebec during spring break every other year, attend French cultural activities and sponsor a dance. The president is Shannon Keller, V.P. is Shawn Rhoads, and Sec Treas. is Mark Slocum. The only pre-requisite for this club is a real interest in the French language and culture. There are 4000 members in Michigan and 75 000 members nationally. BOEC is a vocational student organization and in Michigan is sponsored by the Michigan State Board ot Education. BOEC is for high school business students to develop business skills through competitive events and leadership activities. In addition, the club sponsors local activities such as dances, a Christmas food drive and activities that promote business education. Monthly meetings are scheduled according to the schedules of the membership. Members must be enrolled in a business class. Of- ficers are Sean Lester. President; Sandi Moore. Vice-President; Kimberly Bubnas. Secretary; Jennifer Oldz. Reporter; Ted Keniston. Parliamentarian. The advisor is Mrs. Dawson. International Club is a support group for incom- ing exchange students here for a year and en- courages H.H.S. students abroad. The club has pro- grams of international cuisine. The primary source of income is the sponsorship of a school dance.
