Welcome Back, Students! And this is what hurts! Fall semester brings an end to sum- mer vacation for students attending Hastings High School. The prisoners and the Q-bomb are turned over to Queen Glorianna. The senior class presented The Mouse that Roared, by Christopher Sergei, a two-act comedy about the tiny nation of Grand Fenwick that invades the U.S. intending to lose (to gain foreign aid, of course.) What evolves, when they win in- stead of lose, provided hilarious entertainment for all. Professor Kokintz explains the mysterious Q-bomb to General Snippet, the Secretary of State, and the President. The play cast takes a well-earned curtain call. Pat Brom poses for her senior picture to be taken by photographer, Mr. Beller. Mr. Kigar helps Seniors prepare for the big event of this last year of high school. A union of these is necessary to make a potentially good organization an award-winning one. Hastings High is fortunate to have such talent in Mr. Arthur Stewart. It is through his guidance and encouragement that talent, practice, and perseverance are all combined to form an outstanding band Dance Band Pep Band Both the dance band and the pep band lend much spirit to school activities. Dances, basketball games, and pep meetings find these two bands busy drum- ming up the school spirit and enjoyable music for dancing. 38 SDI131H1V The band, cheerleaders, and team combined to make the 1962 season successful. Finish Season as Co-Champs The 1962 season was very successful despite the loss of many lettermen from last year’s championship team. The Saxons finished as co-champions with a 6-1-1 record.
